Marilyn A. Braxton serves as the Human Resources Lead in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of Environmental Information. She is responsible for strategic leadership and direction of human capital management initiatives for EPA’s Chief Information Officer (CIO). Her key responsibility is to advise the CIO and senior management on and lead human resources efforts. Specifically, she is responsible for all policy, strategic planning, operational, and oversight activities associated with human resources programs, including workforce planning and development, recruitment, labor and employee relations, organizational analysis, and employee engagement.
Marilyn began her federal government career in 2006 as an Environmental Careers Organization grant intern and continued as a post-graduate intern at The Washington Center before embarking on a full-time career at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in 2008. Marilyn began her career as a Program Analyst Trainee in the Student Career Experience Program (SCEP) while obtaining her master’s degree. Since converting to a career-conditional appointment in 2010, Marilyn also served as a senior Program Analyst, Senior Special Assistant, and Acting Human Resources Director.
Marilyn is originally from Birmingham, AL, and holds a BA in English from Howard University in Washington, DC, and an MA in Literature from American University in Washington, DC. She is a graduate of the Executive Leadership Program (Graduate School USA) and the Emerging HR Leaders Forum (Partnership for Public Service).
