Dr. Brooks is the Chief Data Scientist at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). In this capacity, he is responsible for defining and implementing strategies related to the Agency’s use of people, data, and technology. His work is preparing NGA and the Intelligence Community (IC) to best confront and address future mission challenges.
Dr. Brooks leads the Data Corps, a team of Agency professionals who use their skills to solve data-related problems in NGA and teach colleagues to solve future data problems themselves. He also leads the Explorer Program, a team of highly experienced technology industry professionals who are serving their country by contributing their expertise as term NGA employees. Both groups focus on transforming the Agency workforce into one with the skills needed to best solve complex challenges facing NGA and the IC.
Dr. Brooks has over a decade of experience in industrial research, product management, and marketing roles at startups and public companies. He earned his Masters and Ph.D. in Information Management and Systems from the University of California, Berkeley. While earning his doctorate, he provided strategic guidance to global corporations and organizations. He is a founder of the University of California, Berkeley’s first-of-its-kind and top-ranked graduate Data Science program, where he also served as an instructor. He earned his Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America.
