What is NGGS?
GovLoop and Young Government Leaders (YGL) are joining forces to enrich the lives of emerging leaders in today’s government. We developed the Next Generation of Government Summit (2011 endorsed by OPM) to tackle issues the next generation is facing in their daily government lives. By educating, inspiring and transforming the current and future leaders of government through case studies and hands on training we will help make government cool!
How big is the summit?
The 2nd Annual Next Generation of Government summit brought together 500 rising government leaders at the federal, state and local levels. We anticipate nearly 700 Gen X and Gen Y leaders to be in attendance at the 2012 year’s summit!
When and where is the summit taking place?
2012 Next Generation of Government Summit is being held July 26-27 at the JW Marriott in Washington, DC.
Who can register?
Registration is on a first come first served basis and is open to emerging leaders in government, academia, non-profit and government contractors. There is a cap on the number of government contractors, so register today if you are interested in obtaining one of these limited slots.
Can I get CEUs for attending?
All attendees did receive CEUs for attending in 2010 or 2011. As planning progresses we will know more about the CEU structure for 2012. (last year attendees earned 1.1 CEUs)

What is the Dress Code?
Honestly, wear what makes you most comfortable to learn, talk and think openly. Some wore suits last year, others wore jeans. As long as you are comfortable, presentable and eager to learn more!
What if I need a hotel?
The summit does not have an official room block. If you wish to stay on location of the summit you may process your accommodations through the JW Marriott website. If you wish to seek another location try out a search tool (i.e. Bing or Kayak) or contact Megan Price for more assistance.
Can I share my badge with someone else?
Yes. The more people we can help educate or get to know the better! If you and your colleagues wish to split the sessions you may attend one at a time. Simply bring the badge to the registration desk and we can swap it out.
Are there sponsors for this event?
Yes, exclusive sponsorships are available. Only 12 sponsors will be able to showcase their products, mingle with the emerging leaders in government and become an influencer to the end users. If you are interested in sponsoring this event contact Doug Mashkuri.
I was invited to speak. Do I need to register?
Yes, however your registration will be processed internally. Contact Megan Price to complete all speaker logistics.
I want to attend, but can’t afford it…what can I do?
First, take a few tips from our blog post or the GovLoop community to ask your supervisor to help you out with this handy document. We even created a template that you can use to ask for permission and make the case. This is a great training opportunity for you to grow your career and make you a better public servant.
